With reference to paragraph 7 of my
secret despatch of the 5th November, I have the
Enclo, o honour to enclose copies of translations of ex-
tracts from the Hong Kong Chinese press concern-
ing the efforts which are being made in Canton
to maintain the anti-British boycott. I enclose
Inclo, No. Zalso translations of various pamphlets issued in
Inclo, No. Z
Canton to this end, and of the Enquiry Form for
distribution to Chinese shops in Canton, to which
I have referred in the despatch quoted.
I attach also a copy of a minute by the
Secretary for Chinese affairs with reference to
these documents.
